Kathy Ruth Young was born on September 5, 1962, in Batavia, New York, to the late Annie Mae Hayes and the late Robert David Ruth. Though born in New York, Kathy was raised in Florida, where she built the foundation of a life centered on love and family. She graduated from Plant City High School in 1980, carrying with her strength and determination that would define her life.

In 1983, Kathy married the love of her life, James Lewis Young Sr. Their union was one of devotion ,partnership, and unwavering commitment. Together they created a family that became Kathy's greatest pride and joy.

Kathy was a loving mother and grandmother whose heart was always open. She found happiness in life's simple pleasures - reading a good book, writing short stories filled with imagination, casting a fishing line into still waters, and tending to her plants with patience and care. Whether through her words, her laughter, or her nurturing spirit, she found a way of making others feel seen and valued.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Lewis Young Sr.; her son, David Antwan Hayes; her sister, Nelvin Doriskar; her mother, Anna Mae Hayes; and father, Robert David Ruth. Though her heart carried the weight of these losses, she continued to love deeply.

Kathy Ruth Young's legacy is one of strength, enduring love, and steadfast devotion to family. Her memory will live on in the stories shared, the lessons taught, and the love she poured into those blessed to know her.

Kathy leaves to cherish her precious memories: her sons, James Lewis Young Jr (Taffy McClain)and Robert T. Young (Shay Marsh); her daughters, Veronique Denise Young and Kathy Ruth YoungII, six beloved grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews and other loving relatives and friends who will forever hold her in their hearts.
